  18. Read Only Attributes of the Files
  19. =============================
  20. Because the files are copied from the CD to your hard drive, the files have the read-only "r" attribute set. Thus, you can read these files, but you can't modify them. If you need to modify any of these files, run the MVPROG.BAT file located in the \MVPROG directory. MVPROG.BAT is a batch program that will automatically remove the "read-only" attributes of all the files in \MVPROG and its subdirectories.

Movie files (AVI files) are large files. As such, only one movie file was copied to your hard drive during the installation of the CD. The file that was copied is MOVIE.AVI, and it was copied to your C:\MVPROG\AVI directory. However, you can manually copy other movie programs (together with the Visual Basic source code) to your hard drive. You'll find these additional movie programs on the CD in the \MVPROG\AVI directory. If you want to experiment with these movies, use the File Manager of Windows or the COPY DOS command to copy these files from the \MVPROG\AVI directory of the CD to the C:\MVPROG\AVI directory.

  53. Creating the Second "Master Visual Basic 3" Program Group
  54. =====================================================
  55. This book contains over 50 programs. Because in Windows 3.1 you can have a maximum of 50 program icons in each program group, only the executable files from chapters 1 through 20 are set up in a group named Master Visual Basic Group 1. If you want to set up the second program group for the remaining chapters, run the SETUP2.EXE program in the \MVPROG directory on the CD-ROM.

  58. The TegoMM.VBX Advanced Multimedia Control
  59. ==========================================
  60. The TegoMM.VBX control is an advanced multimedia control that lets you incorporate multimedia technology into your programs with great ease (such as WAV files, MIDI files, AVI files, animation, playing through the PC speaker).
